4ksq door moulding removal

Does anybody know of a non-destructive method of removing
the rubber protective mouldings from the doors on a 4000
Quattro?  I hope to have the car painted in a few months and
some of the mouldings are worth saving if I can get them off
without destroying them as shown in the Bentley.  Would the
3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner recommended for removing
the spoiler loosen them without dissolving the paint in the
process?

And does anybody know of a source for replacement mouldings
at a realistic price?  How about a locally available (3M?)
substitute for the recommended AMV 176-000-05 adhesive?

Excuse me if this has been discussed, I have been off the
list for about 6 months.
