RE: low on gas === engine cut out

... I had a really weird one like this ... again with the 1978 Audi Fox GTI
... it would cut out when accelerating only on left turns ... I never could
figure it out.  The problem went away after I replaced the
_charcoal_canister_!  I don't know how the one could have caused the other
... I just noticed that the book claimed there was a service interval for
the canister and I knew my car had the original unit so I replaced it.  

I also recommend checking to see if your car has a screen in the fuel tank
... which I posted before ...
