RE: Yuppie Scum
Speaking of Colorado and I-25 in particular:
This morning, I passed one of those ubiquitous SUVs properly - in the left
lane - and then pulled back over to the right lane. The SUV driver had been
cruising along at about the speed limit in the right lane.As soon as I
passed, she then moved over to the left lane and sat there for no apparent
reason,as there were no cars between myself and her and I was rapidly
pulling away!! (In my rearview mirror, I did notice that cars were then
forced to pass her on the right.)
Baffling behavior, but not nearly as irritating as the a@#?hole in the
Explorer (another piece of s$$% SUV for those fortunate enough to live where
these are not available) who, later the same morning, decided to tailgate me
and give me the finger after I passed him properly in the left lane and was
then forced to slow for traffic a little later.
(makes for an interesting commute to work)
I guess it most be somewhat insulting for a driver in a new $40k SUV to be
passed so easily by a 13 year old Audi of all things! (Try to get one of
these fat ass SUV's over Monument Hill - elev 7200 ft - at more than 80mph!)
Tailgating, lane apathy, and poorly maintained (or even poorly engineered)
vehicles are far more dangerous on the highway that moderate speeding.
Sorry for the WOB, but since others were ranting about this..

(BTW, for those in Colorado - did you know that I-25 between south Denver
and Colorado Springs has not been widened since it was built in the late
50's? We've got the poorest interstate system of an state I've ever been
in.)

I think most of them have their cruise controls on and are
oblivious to the line of cars between them. You can't make
it from Denver to Colorado Springs without getting caught
behind at least 2 or 3.
