Re: Road Rage

I have been reading all the posts on this subject and have come upon an
interesting undercurrent to just about every post. The offenders seem to
lack courtesy. I recall a very wise man by the name of Kosmo Kramer once
said "Jerry, manners are the grease of society" and if you think about it
that statement is very true. It only requires a small amount of common
courtesy to pull to the right or the left depending on the country to get out
of the way and allow even faster moving traffic through. It appears to me
that fewer and fewer people are lubricating the bushings of society lately.
On my travels on America's highways I have noticed that it seems that
people driving SUV's and econoboxes and young women (please no flames I tell
it as I see it) are the ones that are the main offenders. For what every
reason these people seem to refuse to think that the rules and courtesies of
the road apply to them. SUV drivers think that because they have a huge 4
ton vehicle that everyone should get out of their way. Unfortunately they
are the ones that should get out of the way since they are the ones driving
the poor handling, lumbering vehicles that measure fuel mileage in gallons
per mile that can't get out of their own way. I have no idea what is with
econobox drivers other that they have no grip on what exactly rules of the
road are. I have had a few girlfriends that drive like maniacs and I have
asked them what possesses them to think an Expedition or a dodge Avenger will
keep up with an A4q or an A2 GTI in a turn. To my surprise most of their
replies were why wouldn't it keep up with those cars they have for tires
don't they. they just don't have a firm grasp of the law of physics and they
also think hey if a VW can do that so can a dodge Avenger (probably one of
the least sporty sports cars ever built hell they are built on the Intrepid
platform one of the crappiest on the road) or an Explorer. I cannot express
how many times I have been in my girlfriends Explorer and was yelling
colorful words when she entered a turn to fast and felt the front end push
closer and closer to the concrete divider on my side of the vehicle. Her
reply to my screaming is "Oh quit yer bitchin you go that fast around that
turn in your 34 year old mustang all the time," what she forgets is that my
tires aren't squealing and the car is not coming within inches of the
concrete divider.
