Re: Dead Ur quattro - latest
Its still dead - I can't get any life from the engine, it will turn over
but won't fire. Knowing me, I suspect that its probably something so simple
that I'm overlooking it. I'm giving up for a few hours and I start again
tonight.
One other BFTP (Blast-From-The-Past) -- I once experienced a similar
problem with my '83 UrQ, before cleaning up the wiring. From the car's
battery (12.x volts), it cranked happily, but WOULD NOT START. Jumped
from another car, engine not running (i.e., 12.x volts), it still
would not start. Started other car (14.x volts), and the UrQ started
*immediately* (I was amazed I hadn't flooded the poor beast, but I
guess the ECU was so pissed off it wouldn't power the fuel pump...).
I repeated this cycle several times -- turn donor car off, UrQ WOULD
NOT START; turn donor car on, UrQ started immediately and without any
complaint.
Revamped wiring (see my rants'n'raves section of my UrQ page...), and
that particular behavior has not resurfaced in "n" years.
It's worth a try (and it's easy to try!).
Good Luck.
