NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 98V332000 (Audi V6 fuel injector recall)
To whom it may concern, cc: Audi Quattro email list
I am interested in receiving the technical documentation associated with NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 98V332000.
I am concerned that the scope of this particular recall may not be large enough to capture all of the vehicles affected by the faulty fuel injector seals.
I have received information that the vehicles being recalled from Audi fall into the 1993 to 1995 model years. However, the Audi V6 engine was introduced in the 1992 model year, with actual production beginning in late 1991. I also have information that the part numbers for the fuel injectors (078 133 551) and the O-ring seals (035 906 149A) are the same for model years 1992 to at least 1994. This information begs the obvious question of why the recall has been slated for V6 engines of model years 1993 to 1995, but does not include those engines used in production during 1992? Perhaps your technical information can shed some light on this discrepency.
As you can imagine, given the nature of the recall, your prompt response would be greatly appreciated.
