Personally, I'd prefer a switch that didn't have such exposed contacts ... 
the kill switches used on racecars, for instance, are probably a better 
choice for general automotive applications.  They don't look as nice as the 
gold-plated blade switch does, though, which rules it our for show 
applications.

Also, my approach doesn't require cutting the OEM wiring harness and other 
than a little extra maintenance to keep the terminal clean, costs nothing...
