The kill switches used in racecars are available in versions that will short 
the alternator output as well as disconnect the battery.  Of course, 
installing one requires that you cut the OEM wiring harness and find some 
place to mount it but my approach requires only a 10mm wrench and is easily 
reversed...

As for frying the alternator, well, that's fine by me.  The only time I'd 
ever pull the terminal off is in an emergency and if I have to replace the 
alternator instead of the car, it will still cost me less than my insurance 
deductible.
