RE: Air Bag Light On
Apparently something was not getting good contact. I took everything apart
Saturday and tested the igniter ring (aka clock spring). The service manual
stated that you should get a 0-1ohm reading between the two air bag
terminals on the igniter ring. Mine came in at 1.1. I thought "ohh well I
guess I need to buy a new one". I put it all back together and used the VAG
to clear the fault code. I started the car and the light was off! It has
remained off since. I tried clearing the code three times before
disassembly only to have the airbag light glaring back at me again.
Hopefully it will never come back. If it does I guess I will just have to
get a sport three spoke wheel. That will really stink! ;-)
Thanks for all the input guys,

Just a guess, Tom. Is the resistance of the arming circuit checked by the
'puter? If so, an open (broken or disconnected wire) will result in an
infinitely high resistance value. Perhaps?
