Brass Fittings for Air Flow Intake - Ur-Q

Help!!

I opened the '85 up yesterday for the first time in preparation for Grattan.
It needed a new O2 sensor amongst other things.

The car has always run so much better than the '83 that I've thought it to
be in perfect shape.  Wrong!

I discovered that sometime in its past the brass fitting for the hose that
comes from the on/off valve for the evaporative emission control system had
sheared at the intake air duct.  The hole in the air duct and the has had
been plugged.

Are these brass hose fitting available separately, and if so does anyone
have a part number, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

I am considering buying some brass tubing of the approximate diameter, which
should do the job?

What effect will the plugging have on the car?
