Need tranny for '91 200qw

Hello,

I am the new owner of a '91 pearl 200qw (actually, WIFE is the new owner... ;-)   ).  The car is in great shape, but it may need a new 5-speed tranny.  A bearing(s) is making a grinding noise at lower speeds.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Any BTDT's?  The car has 149k miles, and was kept in the mountains for the last 2 years. The timing belt, water pump and hoses have been replaced recently, and the UFOs have been replaced as well.  Any other suggestions for things to have checked?
