I grabbed a Porsche 944 jack... it is of the scissor type.... works 
very well... appears as though Porsche had problems with its jack 
too... as I found another unit that was braced a bit better. Anyway, 
it has a large flat base, so it functions correctly w/o falling over 
...Also looks trick as it's made from aluminum (or aluminIum).
