Tiptronic Transmission

I don't know if this happens to any other people that drives the 1999 A4
1.8TQ with Tiptronic transmission. It's my first Audi.  I find that when
I'm using the manual mode, driving at 2nd gear and coming to a complete
stop when the transmission automatically shift from 2nd to 1st gear will
decelerate very rapidly causing the car to stop very abruptly.  This
action is very uncomfortable every time my car is coming to a stop.
I would like to know if this is the way Audi cars are like with
Tiptronic or is it just because the car is still new and it's not broken
in yet.
Can anyone explain this?
