I agree completely!!
The mechanic whom made the mistake should either of redone the job for free
along w/ an apology or given you a check....
I worked @ 2 different German repair shops for a period of 3 years and 
this is the ONLY wasy to do correct BUSINESS..

have a talk with youre mechanic and let us know  how it goes....
