Cgt Shifter linkage

Howdy all,

    My '84 Coupe GT has been hard to get into first gear for some time now.
Lately 5th was hard too, and today I put the shifter were 5th should be and
it went into 3rd. I called one transmission shop that said it worked on
foreign and domestics in the yellow pages.  they said "we don't work on
Audis".  So I took it to another shop and they said part of my linkage was
almost broken.  Then they made some jokes about German engineering and said
it was an Audi only part and I would have to take it to the dealer.  By this
time I could only use 2nd 3rd and 4th gears.  I drove to the dealer anyway.
they told me they might be able to look at it Wednesday.  So I took it to
the local independent local shop Alpine Auto they took it in and replaced it
with a used part for 65$.  then I realized I left my backpack at the first
place and had to go back and get it.  Please forgive the rant but I am
frustrated and I had to miss a day of work (less $$)
