Re: outside temp gauge backlight
BTDT on my '93 90S, I'm willing to be yours will be similar.
First you will need to pull the gage cluster. On mine, I removed two
screws that hold the steering column housing in place and
seperated/removed that. Then there are two screws that hold the gage
cluster in place at the bottom, they were hidden by the column housing.
Once you start pulling the gage cluster out, there will be 4 wiring
hookups to disconnect, then wiggle it out as best you can, I didn't have
to remove my steering wheel. My temp readout is at the bottom of the
cluster, attached by two screws. Remove said screws, and then remove the
two screws holding the display together. Now you can pull the back off
the display, be careful, there are two pieces of what appear to be just
rubber, but are actually conductors between the PC board and the LCD
panel. Now that you have the PC board in your hand, you will see the
burnt out bulb, go to Radio Shack and buy a package of 7219 bulbs (2 per
package). These are 12V, 60mA bulbs, they are a little brighter than
stock, but I can live with it. All that's left is to desolder the old
bulb and solder in the new bulb and then put it all back together.
