Drum roll, please . . . one time semi commercial announcement.
Gentlemen (and ladies) of the Audi list, hear ye, hear ye!
I am looking at fourteen full sets of brand new, just off the boat, made in
Germany, Euro-Aero lights with the correct turn signal housings. They are
not "on the way", they are not "coming soon", they are not "stuck in
customs", rather they are RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW, and they are ALL for sale.
And I doubt that I'll be doing this again any time soon, either.
These have GLASS lenses and METAL reflectors, and accept the H-4 headlight
bulbs which you can buy at Discount Auto parts, Pep Boys, etc. They are
direct bolt-in replacements for the headlights and turn signals on 1986
thru 1991 5000 and 100 models (trapezoidal lens), and can be fitted to
turbo models if you change the grille. (You also have to nudge the turbo
inlet pipe - it works, Dave Head did it.) These are for
drive-on-the-right,-steering-wheel-on-the-left cars, so they are correct
for the USA.
Remember that you have to use the Euro turn signal housings with the Euro
headlamps - the mountings are different - they are included - the US socket
fits right in - this is a set of four items; two headlights, two turn
signal housings (amber). There's even a small hole for the "city" light
under the main beam. This is the hard stuff that you absolutely can't make.
What you don't get is the bulbs or their sockets (9003 and H-4 are
different), nor the wiring harness or relays should you desire to use them.
There are plenty of sources for all of the above. If you run standard H-4
bulbs, you don't need relays. If you want 80/100 or even 95/130s, you MUST
use relays (and the bulb retainer may melt anyway), so this is at your own
risk.
Price: $400 per set, plus UPS (not heavy). Audi gets $207 +/- and $56 +/-
for EACH of the headlights and turn signal housings respectively, and they
are the miserable, dim DOT lights we all love to hate.
e-mail me for my mailing address or if you have any questions.
Best Regards,
Mike Arman
