Re: Ur-rocket
Dave,
The transmission has been made to fit in a std. 20V floor/tunnel confine.
It was apparently a time-consuming project, especially the shift linkage
setup. All hand-fabricated linkages were made, but as I said, it lookks and
feels like factory, except with shorter throws and precision built in. I'll
probably be looking at it more closely sometime soon, as the search for an
RS2 donor cars has begun. Actually there is already a car, but until the
two A4 quattro STW cars, two FIA Group A2 Golf Kit Cars, two Golf Sport 2000
track cars etc at LMS are complete and the season under way, not much will
happen on this front...
There is also an Audi 80 Competition (ex-factory) with a 1.8T engine owned
by SMS at the shop now. Apparently running around 400hp, and much of the
up-to-date electronics, sequential gearbox etc, it'll be interesting to see
how it runs at the track. It should be out tomorrow when the first tests of
the two A4's are slated as well. But I digress. I'll see if I can get some
photos in the next few weeks and e-mail them to you.
Oh yeah, in my excitement of the drive I forgot to have a good look
underneath, but the IC appears to be in its stock location, but the unit
might not be stock. The hood is, on the other hand , stock as is the
grille. No A/C in the car (never was).
