RE: Euro lights w/ Autocheck

Why doesn't your 5k have autocheck for the lights ... it should! FYI, I do
not plan to disable the function on my '88 5kCSQ, but I will have to make
some wiring mods (as I described in my earlier post) to make it work
correctly.

The autocheck headlight test function measures current difference between
the left and right headlight wires from where it is located. If you use
these wires to drive relay coils and have the power supplied to the bulbs
via the relay directly, I have yet to figure a way to make this work (note I
did not say it is impossible!). You did not state which bulb burned out ...
note that there are other modules that monitor the brake and tail lights ...
the relay mod for the headlights does not affect the function of any other
checks.

Keep in mind that it is not mandatory that you install relays with the Euro
lights ... AAMOF as long as you stick to stock wattages you shouldn't have
to worry about overloading the headlight switch. If the 200 still has the
stock headlight monitoring circuitry it would be my belief that the current
for the headlight filaments is actually still passing through the switch ...
