End of More Strange 5KCS Stalling
More thanks to all those who replied with various experiences and
theories as the the source of my low RPM and stalling problems...
It turned out to be something entirely 'other'. An old friend and ex
Audi turbo owner suggested that I check the air mass sensor plate for
foriegn material. So I pulled the necessary hoses and tubes (checking
them all again) and the air filter only to find that plate covered in
gummy oil deposits (or the like).
Half a can of carb cleaner later the plate and surrounding area was
clean and I put things back together. Ever since then the problem has
been cured. (OK I blew out the air filter as it was only 6K miles old,
but it wasn't that dirty)
The Bentley does mention dirty or stick air mass sensor as a possible
cause idle problems, but I wasn't expecting this. I would guess that
the gum added a few grams to the air mass plate, which probably threw
off the mixture as well as causing idle problems.
Hope this helps someone else out there
