Huh? I have two 1987 Quantum Syncro cars (one now demoted to parts car),
and the thing I liked the most about them was the absence of understeer! In
fact, that is one of the best differences between the Syncro and its
contemporary cousin the Audi 4000 Quattro. I have heard this from several
other Quantum Syncro owners.
I never experienced understeer problems with either car on the road. When I
autocrossed the black one, I found that it exhibited plenty of useful
trailing-throttle oversteer. TTO is quite valuable in autocrossing. The
only handling complaint I had was that steady-state cornering on big
higher-speed sweepers was limited by the onset of OVERsteer.
Maybe your first step should be to find out what is wrong with the present
setup of the car which is depriving you of the balanced handling these cars
generally present when stock. The culprit may be front camber which is too
positive. I'd suggest making the front camber as negative as possible.
