subwoofers...end the insanity

Enough on this bass thread. I believe everyone has a valid point about the
types of bass different subwoofers emit. When I used to sell audio equipment
qualifying the needs of the customer is the most important. Some people like
boomy bass and others like a more accurate "audiophile" sound. Remember,
this is all relative to the listener. I would always tell people "speakers
are like art, choose whatever sounds the best to you and do not let others
tell you what to like". I have a friend that likes very "bright" tweeters
and I cannot stand them as they hurt my ears. Thus, I gave him a new pair of
Boston pro tweeters I could not stand.

I am also very particular of my bass sound and I have not heard but a few
home subs that I cared for (I refuse to spend $3000 plus). I want the best
of both worlds, boom for theatre and an accurate blend for music (of all
types). It took me about 4 months to get what I wanted by designing and
building my own. I experimented with at least 3 different enclosures and
about 8 different brands of subs and a shitload of power (low by Mr.
Carver's rating style).

Let people like whatever they like and realize it is useless to try to
convince them otherwise. I happen to like my Audi (mac) and screw everyone
else that doesn't. (one of the reasons my ex IS my ex)

Just my .02
Scott
