Re: 1.8T vs. 2.8?

Go to www.tap1.com and look under performance by model.

The A4 with 2.8 has two mods to increase power: An ECU mod for 18hp, and a
throttle body for 8-10hp.

The A4 with 1.8T has Stage 1 through 7 for increases to 198hp up to 350hp.

The long and short of it is the 1.8T is set up with a turbo, wastegate and
an ECU that can manage them. All you do is change the sizes and programming
of those pieces to get some impressive hp gains. Adding something like a
turbocharger or a supercharger to an engine without one is a lot more work.

See: http://www.pes-tuning.com/ for their supercharger for the 2.8 30V; they
did the extra work to bolt on a system, but at $5000, the price on entry is
steep.

The advantage with the 1.8T is that you can do it in stages, and you have a
larger range of options an a higher top hp potential you can purchase today.
