RE: switch on back of 5spd trans



Nope ... it is the switch that tells the upshift indicator circuitry that
you are in top gear so that it won't tell you to upshift.  On a quattro it
is very common to exchange the wires from the center diff lock switch with
the ones for the 5th gear switch ... causing people to wonder why the diff
lock light (and perhaps ABS OFF) lights come on whenever the car is in 5th
gear ...
