Newbie needs to know what to look for

First, check out these two sites for good info on buying (or avoiding)
your candidate.

And by all means, GET IT INSPECTED BY AN AUDI MECHANIC!!! That price
seems high, by the way, unless it's absolutely immaculate.

On my '87 5kcstq I was disappointed that I didn't know about these, and
paid a wee too much for a car that needed a wee too much. But not
overly so...the payback has been an awesome driving car that I actually
own. Here are some common problems that you may face that I did:

1. The Bomb. If the hyd. pressure regulator goes, a warning light comes
on that looks like a little cartoon bomb.
2. Master cyl.
3. Clutch
4. Elec. snafus, like window switches n' stuff.
5. A/C snafus.

That said, I love mine. Just do your homework.

Regarding my acting:

I didn't sell out.
I bought in.
