but of course, the reason that would *sort of* work would be that it would move
the CG rearwards.

but unless it was a lot of weight and you had it both behind and below the axle
(in effect putting the CG on or under the axle height) forward movement of the
body from braking would still cause the CG to move up and forward, lightening
the rear wheels...
