I've now seen two ABY conversions, and I personally wouldn't issue
papers for either of them. I know that one of them is not legal, since
the registration authority and the insurance company have not been
notified. In general the UK Audi quattro Owners Club has doubts about
the origins of some of the ABY engines being traded/fitted, especially
in England. Our standing advice to _ANYONE_ buying an Audi turbo engine
is to get a copy of the original registration document for the donor
vehicle and proof of ownership. And don't accept: "It's an unused spare
engine" - for the ABY, there is no such thing.

220bhp is the nominal output of the RR 20V engine used in the 1990/1
ur-quattro, which is the reason the factory might be prepared to go that
far. It has different brakes and front wishbones even compared with the
1988/9 MB, and is radically different from the earlier WR. I suspect
the factory would not even approve 220bhp without a full complement of
RR suspension, steering and braking parts. You won't get Audi to go
above 220bhp no matter what you do - 220bhp is as far as they've tested
and they're not going to restart the programme just for you.

I'm assuming your car is fitted with the tandem pump hydraulic system
and accelerometer ABS - otherwise you haven't got a chance anyway.
