FWIW - on the original 80Q Audi had the differential locks one above the
other. They were like organ stops. I was taught that panic braking
included a downward sweep with the index and middle fingers of the right
hand formed into hooks. This one movement engaged both differential
locks - the hand then travelled on to knock the car out of gear.
