CD changer/head unit advice

I'm interested in CD changer unit options for my '90 200 TQW. I'm torn on
whether to stick with the OE-style setup or not. It seems the OE pros are
that the dash display would still show radio stuff, I could keep the current
antenna setup, and I could keep the current speaker setup. One big con is
the lousy reception.

I've been led to believe (by the Audi literature) that the impedance of the
OE antenna system isn't standard so that I'd have to replace antenna/s if I
were to go to a non-OE setup. Is this true? I should add that my current
setup is the in-glass front antenna and a top-mount, swept-back Fuba in the
back. I know the in-glass reception is suspect, but shouldn't the Fuba in
back do a decent job? It appears that the Fuba amp is working, cause the
reception gets even worse if I disconnect the white lead wire. Is this lousy
reception attributable to the antennae or the receiver section in the head
unit?

Do any list members have an OE CD changer/head unit that they would sell?
I've seen them listed on Blau, but $450+ is more than it's worth to me. I
believe my current unit (Gamma) isn't CD changer friendly, so I'm guessing
I'd need to get the whole package. Now, I'm not looking for a kick-butt
audiophile system; I just want to pull in a few Boston stations (from S.
NH), and listen to CDs at a moderate volume.

Any suggestions? Maybe I ought to just pick up the entire Blaupunkt changer
package that's on ebay as I write...

Brian

PS. Any Mass, NH, VT folks have info on good salvage yards that have some
Audis?
