RE: Consistently Warped Rotors Driving Me Nuts

Dunno what's warping yours, but here are some thoughts on possible causes:
Wheels mounted by impact wrench, lugnuts not all at same torque,
Pad heated from use resting on stationary rotor (never use parking brake
after track)
Cheap rotors not dissipating heat evenly.
YM will probably V.

Subject: Consistently Warped Rotors Driving Me Nuts

I've had an issue with the brakes in my 5KCSTQ for some time. I go to
Audi
(dealer) and have the front rotors replaced on a 6-month (or so) rotation
(for free) due to the fact that they keep warping.

I'm on my 5th set in 2 years. They always warp, and they warp pretty
fast. Most people probably wouldn't notice it or care, but I'm anal. The
warping causes the shimmy when I hit the brakes at higher speeds (50
mph+).

Why does this keep happening? Is it the caliper? pads?

If none of the above, then should I convert to drilled or slotted rotors?
If so, who makes a good set? I saw a set at TAP, but they're steep
($2200). then again, everything is included..

TIA for as many of your thoughts and comments as possible.

Regards,

Richard
