I find this incredible.  I have a Scirocco inner CV joint here at work with
me used as a paper weight.  The inner (splined) part, the cage, and the
outer (bolted) part are all complex machinings that look like CNC work.  To
remachine it one would have to set its parts up, run peculiar-to-them CNC
programs, harden the resulting parts, and add new larger bearing balls.  Or,
possibly, the parts could be flame sprayed and remachined to use the same
diameter (new) balls. IMHO, the cost of doing either on a onesey-twosey
basis per vehicle type would seem to cost more than buying the mass produced
parts.
