1987 4KQ fuel pump relay?
Vehicle: 1987 4KCSQ
Symptoms: car is difficult to start. Idle is very rough after
starting. Engine will not rev beyond idle, it stalls when the accelerator is
pushed. Sometimes when I feather the throttle I can coax it to rev into the
2000 rpm range, but it quickly falls back to the bad idle. Reason previous
owner sold the car was that he had been told the fuel distributor was bad.
The car is supposed to have a relatively new fuel pump.
What I've tried: fuel pump distributor was exchanged, fuel filter was
changed, fuel injectors were changed, timing was rechecked and found correct
(cam/harmonic balancer/distributor), ECU was changed.
If this were a 5K I'd suspect the fuel pump relay, but I can't find
any reference to one in the relay list on either fuse/relay box. Nor can I
find any reference in Bentley or Haynes.
Does this car have a fuel pump relay? Is so, where is it?
Also, any other ideas? If there is no FPR then I'll change out the
fuel pump next.
Later.
