re: Clutch going south?



Yow! is right. I recently had my '91 200q tranny dropped (probably harder
job than in  '89 200q, I bet) to replace the oil seals. Also--for good
measure--we replaced  clutch throwout bearing and crankshaft pilot bearing,
but left the clutch because it was pretty recent. Total labor came to 6.5
hours, so a just  a clutch job shouldn't take _any_ more than that, IMHO.
But my mechanic looked like he could do this stuff in his sleep. Helps to
use someone who doesn't need to look at the rate book.
