Re: 89 200 ----to a----> 200 20v worth it?
Jason-
Owning both cars I can speak from experience. My S4 has 70K on it and the
200 20V has 105K on it. Both cars are reliable and have not had any of the
problems yours has, except the seat heaters not working. Easily fixed in
about 1.5 hours by following the instructions in the archives. As for the
cars, they are totally different to drive. The motors are identical, turbos
are not (correct me if I am wrong). The S4 is a stiff car to drive but
handles very well. The 200 is a little plusher to ride in and the handling
is a little slower. The S4 is quicker and smaller. It is that much smaller
in the back seat area that I would seriously consider the 200 if I were to
haul people back there on a regular basis. I would say that upkeep on the
S4 is a little higher. I have stock wheels on both and the tires are a
little more money for the S4. Both get roughly the same gas mileage. The
tranny on the S4 is light years ahead of the 200's. The S4 is louder
inside. For somone without much money to spend on a car, I would look for a
91 200Q 20v. They cost less to purchase and could be easily upgraded to be
damn rockets, in both acceleration and handling. My advice, drive both but
don't be surprised if the S4 is selling for 1.5 to 2 times as much as a 200Q
20V.
Email if you have further questions about either car.
