RE: Transporting a car across the U.S.
A little over a year ago, I checked with a couple of companies about
trucking a car from the east coast to the west. I'd been considering a
couple of Audis in the Philadelphia and D.C. areas. As I recall, the prices
ranged between $800 and $900, including insurance. One company is called
A-AAA Discount Auto Shippers. Another is called AAA DFC Transport Inc. One
of these companies fased me a brochure of their policies, etc. They seemed
pretty professional. I gathered from this research that it matters less
whether the car is going from east to west, or midwest to west, or south to
west (or viceversa). Rather, if the pickup and destination are along main
arteries, especially interstates, the price is lower. If they have to pick
your car up in Wing, North Dakota, be prepared to pay a lot more.
