Gee, Alex, I don't recall ever seeing a man applying make-up while driving
his big Murkin pick-em-up either. Does swigging at a can of beer count?
Stupid, inattentive, careless drivers abound everywhere in our fine land of
the almighty, omnipotent, all-seeing regulators of our highways. Stupidity
is not the special perogative of just one sex.
Imagine driving on a one lane (not one lane each way - one lane for *both*
directions of travel plus a bit less than a half lane width on either side
except where the ditch intrudes)) paved (sort of) road replete with sharp
grade and direction changes with invisible intersections and invisible
on-coming traffic until the very last second. Now imagine that with a
drunk behind the wheel of a 40 year old F-250 (which really *should* be up
on blocks in this feller's front yard) flying toward you and appearing into
vision from around a blind curve about 50 feet in front of you in what
passes for your lane. Now add in the beer and the arm around the sweetie
and the "get-outa-my-way-I-own-this-heah-road" attitude. Talk about a fun
ride! Wanna go for an every day ride with me some time? Let's use your
car. :-)
(BTW, the described road is not just in our imaginations. It passes right
beside my home and is our best route to local shopping such as Kroger,
K-Mart, and Wal-Mart, etc.)
Stupid behavior is not associated with the sex of the individual.
Stupidity is an equal opportunity condition.
Let's please don't pick on our female list members. I, for one, am
particularly glad to have their presence on the q-list.
Now, about that other crack from Jason about the elderly not being allowed
to drive. You talkin' to *ME*, Buddy? (No - not you, Alex.) :-)
