Re: sunroof
Gemma -
I just fixed this exact problem a week or two ago. I could only rarely
open the sunroof or lower it--the actions done by the "back" part of the
switch.
Remove the interior light. Then you'll see the single screw that holds
the trim piece to the roof. Remove the screw and remove the trim piece.
Once removed, the sunroof switch can be removed. (You don't mention your
model; my comments are from a 5k.)
On mine, I found that there was a large voltage drop across the switch,
when you pressed "back," and the sunroof either crawled or didn't work
at all. Sure enough, the switch contacts were very dirty. Cleaning them
took care of it. A new switch might be a good idea; one of the plastic
parts had melted a little, from the heat of that voltage drop.
Now the sunroof runs speedily in both directions--it really is faster,
since some of the power was dissipating in the switch. Hope that helps.
Anyone know why the back portion of the switch goes? Just chance? The
other contacts looked fine.
