Audi Sport UK completed its pre-Le Mans testing schedule with a successful
two-day test (25-26 May) at Paul Ricard in France this week. Perry McCarthy
and fellow Briton James Weaver were
present on both days which saw their Audi R8C clock-up over 1,000kms on the
"short" and "long" circuits.
McCarthy achieved a best time of 1min 49.26secs and both drivers were happy
with the pace of the Audi in "full tank", race runs. "We've made significant
progress with the R8C with tests at Paul
Ricard and Hockenheim since the Le Mans pre-qualifying earlier this month,"
confirmed McCarthy. "I'm very happy with the consistent pace the car is now
achieving in race trim while the reliability factor is also encouraging."
Audi Sport UK is likely to give both R8C chassis a final "systems" check at
Snetterton next week before they are taken to Le Mans. The Norfolk circuit
is close to the Audi AG owned 'rtn' facility where the cars were built.
