I had the same problem a few months ago in my 87 5kcsq. I replaced the
power steering pump and everything is fine now. The fluid gets aerated by
the pump and causes the volume to expand enough to overflow. I found if I
kept the revs below 3000 the eruption did not occur, this got me by until I
fixed it. Replacing the pump is fairly easy. It is recommended that the
copper gaskets be replaced when swapping pumps. I did not have any so I
used the old ones. I was lucky and did not have any leaks.
