Engine fault codes-How?

Hi folks,

I may be (seriously) looking at my first Quattro in a coupla' days. I've seen
reference to checking the Engine Fault Codes but don't know the procedure. Is
it in "The Archives"? Is it short enough to share with the list without being
annoying(like the sudden unintended acceleration hooha)?

Enquiring minds want to know! ;)
