Unless your gear is actually broken, its an easy fix. (i just did 2
within the last month).

There are 2 things you need to fix, the multi cogged metal gear at the
end of the number rack and the plastic gear at the end of the shaft. The
problem is they both spin on the shaft after a while.

 If you take it apart, you will see its fairly obvious.  If you need
detailed R and R, let me know, Ill write it up.
