This is perverse, but ...

Why is it that the cars with the highest mileages are the ones driven
by the maniacs?

Out for a test drive today with Paul Robinson. 1987 200TQW - a test
drive with full boost 60% of the time, squealing tyres and a debate
about it being just a tad tail-happy when thrown around on two wheels.
230k miles.

Last week with John Robinson. 1988 ur-quattro MB, flattening at 4500
in fourth and fifth gear. Full boost or full brakes 80% of the time,
spitting sheets of flame out of the exhaust and generally screaming
the guts out of the engine.
210k miles.

Me.
174k miles.

Not a rattle or a puff of smoke between the three. Do Audi engines
_need_ a good thrashing to survive?
