Seeking Ignition Switch/Lock Help (87 5kcstq)

I guess Dan's anti-spam no post unless sub'ed really works. I tried to post
my query last night but I guess it never went through...

I am having trouble with my ignition switch not engaging the startor. Had to
"hot-wire" it to get the car home yesterday (thankfully only a couple blocks
from home) after troubleshooting to the switch. I can start every time with
the key if I twist the electrical switch slightly (that's all it moves) ccw
when I turn the key. Otherwise...no go, no continuity from red to red/black.

Electrical switch was changed by PO aprox 22k miles/2.5 years ago. It may be
bad...but doubtful I'll be so lucky.

Wallace White emailed me his experiences after I recalled he had a BTDT and
got his email address from the archives. (Thanks Wallace!)

I am still seeking any additional advice on this. I'm not really in the mood
to buy a new "ignition lock cyl." only to get measurements (for drilling to
access a retainer clip) and then return it (advice from Peter at Audionly to
Wallace). My guess is that the linkage has twisted and I need to remove it,
straighten it, and put it back. Any advice on this job? (Wallace got lucky
and the new electrical switch fixed his car.) TIA
