Hmm, I'm no UK ur-q expert(insert Phil here) but there shouldn't be anything 
of that description down by the t-stat housing....maybe the water outlet at 
the cylinder head maybe? Sounds like a multifunction coolant temp switch.

I'll defer to Phil's wiring diagrams for your car, but do you have a 
thermotime switch on the back of the cylinder head?
