Crayon Removal
There were a lot of good suggestions. The trick is to use most of
them.
Step One - go to an electronics shop (radio shack even) and get a can
of "freeze-it cooling spray (or equivalent). This stuff is used to
freeze electronic components and boards to test for heat realted
problems. Use it liberally to freeze the crayon residue solid. Thsi
stuff is a lot colder than ice!
Two - flex the leather to break off as much of the frozen crayon as
possible. You'll get most of it.
Three - use the warm iron and paper towels to get rid of anything
left, there should be very very little. Change the paper towels every
time you apply the heat, they don't absorb all that much.
Four - finish with lexol cleaner and condition.
Results should be like new. Downside is that you'll have to Lexol the
rest of the car because you'll have one very new looking piece of
leather. Don't ask me how I know this.
