I agree.  My '86 5000 S was faster for at least the first 100m, than '86
1.8 bar 5000 CDTQ.

Even with a 3000 rpm launch, by the time the boost starts to kick in,
it's time to grab 2nd, but  once you're in third, the scenery starts to
blur nicely. :)

Would a by-pass valve make a noticeable difference off the line, by
allowing the turbo to maintain more momentum on shifts?
