Pleasant parts price surprises.
hAudi:
Well, I think the price cycle has finally reached the older Audi's. I
pulled right axle on the '84 5KS Sat. to change the boot, found that the
outboard CV was bad, couldn't find just the CV, so I called the few
places that were open, expecting to receive the shaft-sans grease on the
price...but wow, Foreign Autopart had a very nicely rebuilt one for
$49.00, complete. I looked up through the wheel well, to see where that
pricey Pento$in has been going, both sided of the boot on the steering
rack had the green gold staining them. Called up a few parts places,
and a rebuilt rack with 3 yr. warranty was ordered for $189.00. This is
the second rack I'm putting in the car, the last one lasted about 7
years, seems about the life expectancy. These are but two of the
pleasant surprises lately on Audi parts, even a V8 parts or two has been
reasonable lately. Lets hope it continues.
BCNU,
