try getting in your car in -20F weather (or worse...).   you can never get enough
heat at those times, and seat heaters are the alternative to the not-always-feasible
and not-generally-recommended 20 minute car warm-up in the drive.

plus i prefer not to have all that hot dry air blasting around me in even more
moderate winter temps.  being toasty warm from the inside with cool air in the
cockpit is my preferred mode of travel.
