Another Passat meets its Maker - C170 WFP is no more

Our 1986 Passat beater gave its life last night protecting son, daughter
and two friends from someone who didn't realise his car oversteered
on traffic islands.  After a glancing blow on the front right pushed
the car over the kerb, it executed a slow roll onto its roof at zero
forward speed.

No injuries - not even bruises.  Family plans to put a donated FIAT UNO
back onto the road have been shelved in favour of a replacement beater
with German crumple zones and B pillars.

What the scrapyard will make of a 1986 beater with an immaculate engine
is anyone's guess.
