Bob will be using front coil overs, so although the front sub looks low, I
doubt it will be as low as a stock sub with H&R springs. Under full braking,
H&R suspended cars will nary clear a field mouse. The linear rate spring,
antidive design, and adjustable ride height, will put the modded sub at or
above lowered spring modded cars statically, and above under full braking...
The interesting part of the sub mod is the front sway bar being lower and
pulling the front wheels forward.... Some positive caster for antidive a
side benefit. I'm very interested in how this relocation works in relation
to squat/dive, and Ackermann effect (er, that's Anti-Ackermann Steering
Effect for some :). Some track testing time and the alignment rack should
get this to be a great handling 44chassis car.
The use of a skid plate might help triangulate the front, however, mounting
it to the sub, lowers it even more, and lengthens the effective drop further
from the axle centerline..... The box steel used, and the reinforcing
strips to the box frame Bob and I added, makes me think that any living thing
unfortunate enough to not clear the underside, will only mess the matt black
finish on the way to road pizza...
